The boys made the short trip to Caririckmore recently to compete in the Cumann na mBunscol outdoor finals at Eire Og Park.
In the opening game they drew with Roan and then went on to secure victories against Gael Scoil Na gCrann and Carrickmore B Team. This meant that they topped their group and faced St. Lawrence’s Fintona in the semi-final.
In a low scoring affair, St. John’s eventually held out for the victory. In the Cup Final, St. John’s encountered a well drilled Carrickmore team and were unable to overcome the stiff opposition. For the second year in a row, St. John’s have contested this hurling final and unfortunately have just come up a little short once again.
The boys gave a really good account of themselves and should be proud of their achievements. Thanks to Mr. E O’Neill, St. Colm Cille’s Primary School for the invitation and hosting a great event.
