Eco-School of the Year 21/22

17th Jun 2022

Yesterday Mr Gormley, Mrs Donnelly along with Annie-Rose, Cassie and Eva from Primary 7 attended the Eco-Schools NI awards ceremony at the Hill of the O'Neill in Dungannon. They were representing the Eco-committee in collecting our 'Green Flag' which was awarded due to the ongoing efforts of the entire school all year in making St. John's a greener, healthier and more eco-friendly school!

That achievement alone was fantastic, however, it was announced that our school was chosen as 'Eco-School of the year 2021/2022' given our journey so far. Our school was one of 18 primary, post-primary and special schools in the Mid-Ulster area which were nominated for this award, and we are absolutely delighted to have won this in our first year working with Eco Schools NI.

Congratulations to everyone involved in achieving this. We still have plenty more to do next year with our Polytunnel and outdoor area, but with our green flag and trophy, we have plenty of reasons to keep going!
